據說前國際奧委會主席薩馬蘭奇曾打算把這首歌定為奧運會的永久會歌，可見這首歌是多麼的成功。隨著電視機的普及，觀看漢城奧運會的中國觀眾比洛杉磯奧運會多了很多，因此，這屆奧運會的主題歌也成為在中國流傳最廣，知名度最高的奧運會主題歌。“手拉手”不但旋律優美動聽，末尾還加入了一聲極富朝鮮民族特色的“阿里郎” ，堪稱文化融合的模範作品。而曾經因為給電影“壯志凌雲（壯志凌雲）”創作音樂的莫洛德爾在這之後成了最炙手可熱的運動會主題歌創作人，他後來為自己的祖國意大利創作的世界杯主題歌也非常成功。
